FREE COMPETITION_DEADLINE NOVEMBER 23, 2011—Dallas-Fort Worth-area singer-songwriters looking for a change of scenery away from coffee shops and wine bars: listen up! Chevrolet today announced the launch of its Sonic Sounds acoustic music competition for local artists.

Solo and duet performers of any genre from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex are invited to become one of five musical acts to perform live at The Loft (1135 S. Lamar Street, Dallas, TX) in front of a panel of judges, and compete for a chance to win prizes including an acoustic-electric guitar provided by Taylor Guitars.

“Cool music and cool cars – like the new Chevy Sonic—have always gone hand-in-hand, and that connection is what the Chevy Sonic Sounds competition is all about. We hope to discover some terrific acoustic, ‘indie’ talent right under our noses,” says Mark Harland, Chevrolet regional marketing manager. “Great music doesn’t always have to be turned up to eleven. We’re looking for outstanding singer-songwriters who can make big musical moments happen on a simpler, smaller scale.”

Beginning today, musicians can log onto www.ChevySonicSounds.com to submit a video or MP3 recording of original music, along with a photo, and brief biographical information. All eligible submissions will be posted to the site and voted on by website visitors. The deadline for entries is November 23.

The top 15 vote-getters will be named semi-finalists, advancing to the second round of the competition, in which a panel of judges will choose five finalists based on an evaluation of their online submissions. The five finalists will participate in a showcase performance at The Loft on December 13. Each finalist will perform in front of the panel of judges who will score performances based on quality of songwriting, instrumentation, and vocal performance.

Immediately following the showcase, a single grand prize winner will be chosen and awarded a prize package including a $100 gift certificate, a one-year subscription to an online gig-booking service, and a brand new acoustic-electric guitar from world-renown guitar maker, Taylor.

To be eligible, entries must be:

The Nebraska American String Teachers Association announces the Ninth Annual Fiddle Tune Composition Contest !

"Common Nonsense" is a one hour talk show on Audio Independents Radio spotlighting artists as well as an "off the cuff" look at news, technology and entertainment. Each week features new artists as well as great classic rock, blues and pop. "Common Nonsense" is currently being aired on NRG 107-FM in Gatwick, England and Rabbitohs radio in Sidney, Australia. THE EXTREME TOUR 2011 - XTXThe Extreme Tour presents it's 16th year of festival-style events across the United States. Selected band can perform as much or as little of the tour schedule as they feel they can do. The Extreme Tour takes care of travel expenses like housing and food and some artists will be compensated for their participation with an additional travel stipend. There will be two U.S. Tour teams, each doing multiple events in over 100 separate cities and markets nationwide. Shows will take place at the club, theater, and festival level in most major cities. Unlike most other major tours, Extreme Tour artists do not pay a merchandising fee to the tour, and receive 100% of their merchandise sales. *As of 1/5/09 they have received over 250 entries. Songwriters are given two options for submitting their songs. They may send their CD directly to the festival office or they may submit electronically by using Sonicbids. Either way, the official guidelines MUST be followed.
The official guidelines and entry information/form for the 2009 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition for Emerging Songwriters are posted on our website at www.kerrvillefolkfestival.com/newfolk.htm. There are a few significant changes to the guidelines so be sure to read them carefully.
We will accept the first 800 entries we receive prior to March 15, 2009. The 32 Finalists will be announced on or about April 15.

Broadjam Winter Keyboard RAWK Contest
